The Carpathian Mountains range is the second longest mountain range in Europe, with majestic mountains, clear rivers and unique forests. It is among the most biologically unique ecosystems in the world and of great importance to Europe.

The Carpathian Mountains region is the largest area in Europe (outside Scandinavia and the Russian taiga) with virgin forests and old-growth forests.

It covers an area more than five times the size of Belgium.

The Carpathian Mountains are located in the territory of 7 countries:

They make up 61% of Slovakia’s area; 48.8% of Romania’s; 16% of the Czech Republic’s; 9.7% of Hungary’s; 6.1% of Poland’s; 3.6% of Ukraine’s and 0.6% of Austria’s.
